I ran across this Fastpack at the PMA08 Convention here in Las Vegas and wanted to purchase it right then and there but couldnt. So I waited about 2 weeks and ran across the 350 on Amazon and ordered it. It has all the functionality that I was looking for. It incorporates my small form factor 12in laptop in the back with plenty of padding and quick access to my DLSR. I have had this on my back for hours and it doesnt get uncomfortable when properly adjusted. I am very pleased with the design. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has been wondering if its worth it.

I'm a professional photographer. Lowepro is definitely my favorite maker for bags. I own several, including a slingshot 200 and some smaller sized bags. The Fastpack 350 is my largest bag. As a woman, I don't think I'd want to carry anything larger. This bag fits everything without getting uncomfortable to carry.

The camera section is easily rearranged to fit my needs. All of the padding is attached by Velcro. I just pull the pads out and rearrange as necessary. I can fit my Canon Mark III with an EF 70- 200 IS USM lens attached, my back- up camera (Canon 20 D), and 4-5 additional lenses (depending upon lens size) all together in the camera section of the bag.

The upper compartment fits my 580 EX strobe (flash unit) and my strobeframe, my flash modifier (flash softbox), batteries for both cameras, memory cards, all of my cables/ remotes, and more.

Add to this the two extra zipper compartments on the front of the bag and you have plenty of room for everything.

As a bonus, I don't have to carry along my laptop case. FINALLY, a camera bag that fits my Macbook Pro.

5 out of 5 stars Lowepro Fastpack 350 well worth the purchase   November 19, 2009

The Lowepro Fastpack 350 served excellently on my recent trip to Hawaii. First, it fit under the airline seat with room to spare, so I had access to the travel items I had packed in the upper compartment without having to get up and get the pack from the overhead compartment. That upper compartment was large enough for cell phone, books, pens, keys, large wallet, snacks, kleenex, and even my inflatable neck pillow and fleece pullover. I only used the camera compartment for a Nikon D40 with attached lens, a Sony digital video camera, all batteries and chargers, and had room left over for some small travel items. During the trip, I carried the backpack everywhere and it was never too heavy, but balanced just right whether using both shoulder straps or just one. It stayed in place each time I swung it around to access my cameras and was never in the way as I photographed or videotaped. Yes, the zippers could be more heavy duty, but they served well. The best part was being able to have my cameras with me, as well as all of the important travel items that one has to take along with on a day journey, including water. Prior to purchasing it for my trip, I was hoping that it was not too bulky or that I wouldn't be wishing that I had taken something smaller. It was just right. I would highly recommend this backpack especially if you want the extra room that a regular camera bag will not give you.

My wife and I each have one of these backpacks for our cameras. They not only carry a digital SLR but also a large macro lens, a telephoto lens, a wide angle lens and a flash unit. The upper part also allows us to carry all the little extras like extension tubes, magnifying lens, cable releases, filters, etc. All this stuff is easy to carry on location as the pack is extremely comfortable and well-balanced. I'd recommend this backpack to anyone serious about carrying everything you need into the field.

5 out of 5 stars versatile low-profile backpack   June 30, 2009

So I've owned this bag for about a year now.

Two main use cases I like this bag:
- at the airport - the laptop access is easy and unobtrusive. it's side-opening vs. top opening which makes me worry less about dumping a coke on the bag or something. the mesh side pocket is nice to carry a water bottle and the little cell phone holder is snug and well made so you have your phone accessible without digging through the top

- on a hike - I picked this bag up for the side access after seeing how you could unsling the pack from your right shoulder and get at the pocket. I mean what a pain to have to take a backpack off to get to your camera, right? works as advertised, makes it really easy to keep moving when you don't want to sling your camera around your neck or shoulder - say your moving through wet foliage or just don't want to advertise that you have an expensive camera in the woods. it doesn't look expensive which i like - rather have the thieves keep looking for someone richer.

i've got a nikon 70-200 VR lens and it fits the pouch. you can get away with a professional model - with the battery pack, but it's snug and i would just want that for transport, not use. of course your hood won't fit on the longer lenses in the pack.

business use is competent - the upper container has some pockets for pens, etc - it's big enough to store your lens hoods and other gear or for food when you're on short jaunts.

cons on this guy - personally i find the little zipper compartment under the flap useless - poor design there. just hard to get to. my big gripe though is the waist straps - they're useless even if you do let the thing hang down far enough to bear weight so the weight is all in your shoulders. the shoulder straps are nice enough for a day hike or a big airport walk and that's all i need so it's not too bad.

all in all, i've had a lot of people (including salesmen at the camera store) be surprised when i pulled out an 11 inch lens from the thing. this is the real urban stealth.
